It's a circle, not a line

Playtesting doesn't end with your game's release
Soft launch and global launch are opportunities for game metrics at a bigger scale. But analytics and metrics aren't answers—they're questions.

Metrics give you data points, such as "30% of players drop off at this point" or "less than 20% of players pay to upgrade here." To understand why that happens, post-launch playtesting is key.

While some game studios wind down their research following launch, those who continually playtest and iterate can confidently build new game modes and events, refine their monetization strategy and make sure new content meets player expectations.

And—most importantly—optimize and improve retention.
Use Post Launch Playtests to create long-term players
Why do players churn here (and how can we prevent it)?
Who is our real target audience, and what do they need?
How do players compare our game to competitors?
What should we prioritize next?

Run better Post-Launch Research

Below, we've mapped a few scenarios to help you achieve strong retention, optimize your monetization and giving you the insights to prioritize what to build next.
Find out how your players play, and what your players want
Run research with your own engaged players and improve their experience. Watch your players play their daily routine, interview them about their needs and expectations for future content, and present them with options.
Methods Used:
Reduce churn and polish your FTUE
Record new players during the first few hours of game play to gain insights into their experience, identify onboarding issues and observe churn points. As part of the playtest, players will need to pla known churn points, giving you access to insights you can't get anywhere else.
Methods Used:
Understand player needs and prioritize your Live Ops roadmap
Mix quantitative and qualitative approaches to get a clear picture of what players want. Ask players to prioritize the features they want to see next, show them your plans and validate your roadmap.
Methods Used:
Understand (and outperform) the competition
See how your players engage with similar and competing titles to compare mechanics, progression, churn and spending. Find opportunties to improve, and learn from their mistakes.

How it works

As seen above, Post-Launch games research can leverage different methods, depending on the research goal. Here's how to run these playtests on our platform:
Check your live metrics
Review your game's analytics to formulate questions and hypotheses: average session duration, average first session duration, how many sessions per day, time to first purchase, churn points and more.
Define your target audience
Mixing fresh new players with existing players from your own community (BYOP: Bring your own players) can give you the most accurate sampling of players. We'll recruit the exact player demographic and deliver your game right to them, along with instructions.
Fastest playtest results
Shortly after the start of your study, you'll start to receive recordings, and continue to receive updates throughout the project. If you're running interviews, we'll deliver players to the time slots you choose and handle all the coordination. AI annotations streamline your insights process and begin identifying common themes.
We've made it easy
No need to create specialized exports of your game or provide elaborate background information. No scheduling hassles. And no calculating and distributing rewards. We do it all, so you can focus on your research.
